Our radio station is an international success!

From Australia to Uzbekistan, foreign listeners have been tuning into our radio station, Radio Active Scotland, in their thousands. Set up three years ago by music lecturer Darren Paramasivan, Radio Active Scotland went live on the internet in 2011.

Since then the popular station has picked up a steady stream of international listeners with fans tuning in from Brazil, Russia, Serbia, Greece, Latvia and even the Maldives and Taiwan.

As well as shows broadcast directly from the college, Radio Active Scotland also features slots by international presenters, living across the globe. Run by students and staff at the College, the radio station offers a range of shows from the oldest running student Amnesty International show, to comedy, Reggae, Rock and Dance.

Darren commented that: “The students have worked extremely hard to make the station a success. It’s exciting for them when we get the listening figures in for the month and they can see where around the world people have been tuning in from.

It’s great to think that news and views from Cumbernauld College are getting out to some of the most far flung nations.” To tune in to Radio Active Scotland online.
