An interview with our Principal, Martin McGuire



An interview with our Principal, Martin McGuire:

We take time to get to know Martin McGuire a little better by asking a few questions about himself and we find out what it's like to be the Principal of Cumbernauld College. 



What makes you proud to be Principal of Cumbernauld College?
The commitment of our staff to our learners.

Why should students choose to come here?
Because we are recognised as being one of the best colleges in the country.

Serious about Learning.

Describe a day in the life of being Principal.
It’s wide and varied with lots of internal and external meetings including staff, learners,
business leaders, politicians etc.

In your time here as Principal there have been a few changes. What are the most significant changes that have had an impact on students?
It would have to be the massive financial investment in facilities across all of our
campuses.

Prior to being Principal, what did you do?
I progressed from a lecturer in Electronics through a range of various management posts.

What advice would you give to anyone considering education?
Go for it, it could change your life.

What did you want to be when you were young?
A footballer or a drummer in a rock band. (We can all dream!)

What do you do to relax in your spare time?

I play 5-a-side football, golf and music.
